The police in Kano have arrested one Salihu Usman for allegedly robbing over 1,000 houses in the state.

Haruna Abdullahi, the police spokesperson, disclosed this on Monday.

Abdullahi said the suspect committed the crime over a period of six years, and had broken into several houses in Kurna and other areas.

“The way he has been operating was suspicious. In fact, many people said he uses juju and must be a spirit that disguises himself during operation,” the Kano police spokesman said.

“When we received reports of complaints by residents, Sama’ila Dikko, Kano state commissioner of police, ordered the anti-kidnapping operatives to ensure the immediate arrest of the suspect.

“With the concerted efforts of the security operatives in the areas, we were able to apprehend him.”

The suspect, said to be 29 years old, confessed to the allegations when he was paraded.

“I burgled the houses, but I don’t use juju. I can play soccer very well, that is why I am good at running,” he said.

The police said a motorcycle, two pairs of scissors, a rod, two caps and a torchlight were recovered from the suspect.

Abdullahi added that the suspect will remain at the police headquarters in Bompai, Kano state, and will be prosecuted after the completion of investigation.
