The Lagos police command has arrested Obic Modestus, an officer, for allegedly assaulting an Uber driver operating in the state.
In a video that appeared online on Monday, a police officer was seen hitting a driver while the victim was seated in his car.
After the driver left his car, the police officer was also seen slapping the driver while dragging him into the van.
The incident reportedly occurred around 11 am on Sunday and has elicited outrage on social media.

Providing an update on the incident, Benjamin Hundeyin, Lagos police spokesperson, said Modestus has been summoned by the complaint unit of the command.
The Police Officer, Inspector Obic Modestus, has been summoned by the Complaint Response Unit (CRU) @LagosPoliceNG. He will be handed over to the Provost Department for appropriate disciplinary measures.

“He will be handed over to the Provost Department for appropriate disciplinary measures,” Hundeyin said.
“The Lagos State Police Command, under CP Olohundare Jimoh, will not condone any form of incivility to members of the public.”
