The Borno police command says a repentant Boko Haram fighter has been arrested for allegedly killing his ex-wife in the state.

NAN reports that Sani Kamilu, spokesperson of police in the state, said the incident occurred on September 12.

Kamilu said the repentant insurgent, Musa Dauda, killed his wife and buried her on a farm located at Muhammed Goni stadium in Maiduguri, the Borno capital.

He said the deceased, Hafsat Musa, was invited by the former Boko Haram fighter to meet him at a farm.

“The case was not reported to the police until a few days later when the decomposing body of Hafsat was discovered on the farm by her relatives,” the police spokesperson said.

Kamilu said police operatives were immediately deployed to the location where her corpse was evacuated, adding that it has been taken for autopsy at the Umaru Shehu Ultramodern Hospital in Maiduguri.

He said Dauda confessed he hit his ex-wife with a hoe on the head after he sighted her with another person on the farm.
