The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) says it has arrested six suspects in connection with an attack on police tactical teams in Benue state.
Benjamin Hundeyin, force public relations officer, said in a statement on Sunday that suspected armed herdsmen and local militias ambushed officers at Agu centre in Katsina-Ala/Ukum LGA, killing three policemen on Friday.
He added that seven other personnel remain missing, while Innocent Emenari, Benue commissioner of police, is leading an ongoing operation to rescue them and track down the attackers.
“The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, strongly condemns the attack, describing it as cruel, unwarranted, and an affront on the good people of Benue state,” Hundeyin said.

The police spokesperson noted that the arrested suspects are in custody and “assisting with useful information”.
He added that the IGP has deployed additional tactical assets to the area, vowing that “no stone will be left unturned in restoring peace and security in Benue state”.
Hundeyin urged residents to remain calm and support security agencies as efforts continue to rescue the missing personnel and dismantle the criminal networks behind the assault.
