Police arrest teacher for ‘sexually abusing four pupils’ in Gombe

The Gombe police command has arrested a 38-year-old teacher for allegedly defiling four pupils.

In a statement on Tuesday, Mahid Abubakar, police spokesperson in the state, said the four girls were sisters learning in an Islamic school where the suspect works.

The suspect, identified as Abubakar Muhammed, was said to have stuck his fingers and legs into the private parts of the girls.

He was said to have carried out the acts between January and March 2023.

“Both the victims and suspect were taken to the police clinic for medical examination meanwhile suspect confessed to the crime and will be charged to court for prosecution,” the police said.

In a related development, three suspects were arrested for defiling three sisters at Kagarawal quarters in Gombe.

The suspects, identified as Sani Adamu, 50, Adamu Muhammed, 40, and Bakura Muhammed, 30, were said to have lured the girls to a location where they defiled them.

“On 7/3/2023 at about 11:00hrs following a formal complaint at Gombe divisional police headquarters by one Aliyu Adamu ‘m’ of Malam Inna quarters and Alhaji Abba attached to National Human Right Commission Gombe that on 6/03/2023 at about 2 pm and between January and March, at a different time and location, the above-named suspects lured three of his daughters all ‘f’ of the Kagarawal quarters Gombe and had carnal knowledge of them without consent,” the police spokesperson said.

“Both the victims and the suspect were taken to the police clinic for medical examinations, meanwhile suspects has confessed to the crime and the case will soon be charged to court for prosecution.”

He assured that the command is working to ensure children across the state are protected from criminals.
