The Imo police command says its operatives have arrested three suspects for allegedly defiling a 12-year-old girl.

In a statement on Tuesday, Henry Okoye, the command’s spokesperson, said the suspects defiled the minor on different occasions which resulted in serious injuries and sexually transmitted disease.

Okoye identified the suspects as Joseph Onyema, aged 35; Uzoma Nwanoreze, aged 30 and Eberehukwu Nwosu, aged 43.

“The victim is currently receiving intense medical care at the hospital. The suspects will have their day in court upon completion of a discreet investigation,” the statement reads.

“The commissioner of police Imo state command, Aboki Danjuma condemns the barbaric acts in totality, and calls on the well-meaning resident of Imo state to support the police in the onslaught against defilement, rape, and other sexual-related crimes in the state.”
