Police arrest two for ‘kidnapping man, collecting N5.1m ransom’ in Edo

The police command in Edo has arrested two suspects, who allegedly kidnapped one Albert Igbinomwanhia, in Benin, the state capital.

NAN reports that Chidi Nwabuzor, the police public relations officer in the state, spoke to journalists on the incident on Wednesday.

He said the suspects, Joel Emazor and Philip Roberts, who were arrested on March 30, had kidnapped 31-year-old Igbinomwanhia on March 6 and requested a ransom of N14 million.

“The kidnappers demanded N14 million ransom from his family members,” he said.

“The victim was released to his family after a N5.1 million ransom was paid.

“They continued to threaten that the N14 million must be completed or they would still kidnap the victim.”

The police spokesperson said the suspects were arrested after the family of the victim petitioned the commissioner of police.
