Operatives of the Anambra police command attached to Isiowulu police division, in collaboration with local vigilante groups, have arrested one Chidi Nwoye, a suspected vehicle thief in the state.
According to a statement by Tochukwu Ikenga, the police spokesperson, the suspect was apprehended on Saturday along Minaj Road, Obosi, while operating a stolen tricycle.
Ikenga said investigations unravelled that Nwoye used master keys to steal vehicles and tricycles from parked locations.
The police spokesperson said officers recovered a Hyundai Tucson with registration number PH 725 AAA (without ignition key), a tricycle (NSH 051 UD), eight mobile phones, a black face cap marked ‘AVG Special Force’, and a battle axe.

Other items recovered included a driver’s licence, multiple keys, ATM cards, a vehicle tracking device, and other items.
Ikenga said investigations are ongoing, with operatives searching the suspect’s hideout for more stolen property.
He asked members of the public who may have lost items matching the recovered exhibits to visit Isiowulu police station for identification and recovery.

“Our operatives have extended investigations to the suspect’s den for possible recovery of additional stolen exhibits,” the police spokesperson said.
“To this end, the command urges members of the public, especially those whose items may have recently been stolen as mentioned above, to visit Isiowulu Police Station for possible identification and recovery.
“The suspect shall be charged to court at the conclusion of the investigation.”
