Police debunks reports of kidnap in Ondo

In light of rumours that kidnappers are in Ondo State, the Police have assured residents of their safety.

Addressing a news conference in Akure, the state capital, ASP Wole Ogodo, the Police spokesman in the state, dismissed the rumour as having no basis.

He warned residents against jungle justce, stressing that the Police should be alerted if there is evidence or traces of suspicion.

“I have to tell you that whoever has evidence should come up and arrest any person in a criminal act,” he told NAN.

“The public has the right to arrest, but they should hand over such persons to the Police for proper investigation, rather than take laws into their hands.”

He assured members of the public that the Police would not divulge any information the provide in confidence, and urged residents to trust the Police as well.
