The police have used teargas to disperse some citizens protesting against police brutality in the federal capital territory (FCT).

In October, many Nigerians took to the streets to call for a reform of the force.

During the protests, Mohammed Adamu, inspector-general of police (IGP), announced the dissolution of the special anti-robbery squad (SARS) — a unit of the police alleged to be responsible for many extra-judicial killings.

The demonstrations around the country stopped after soldiers opened fire at protesters at the Lekki tollgate in Lagos state.

But on Sunday, protesters regrouped and went to the police headquarters in the FCT.

They did an ‘EndSARS’ mural on the road leading to the gate of the headquarters.

During the protest at the entrance of the national assembly on Friday, police officers reportedly shot into the air to disperse the protesters.

Omoyele Sowore, convener of #RevolutionNow, was among those who led the protesters to the national assembly.
