Police: Five suspected kidnappers killed in Anambra, Delta

Operatives of the commissioner of police special assignment team have conducted raids on two forests known to be hideouts for kidnappers in Anambra and Delta states.

Bright Edafe, spokesperson of the Delta police command, said the raids led to the death of five suspected kidnappers.

He said during the operations, a fierce gun battle ensued, resulting in the death of Bello Abubakar and four members of his gang.

Edafe said the police recovered three AK-47 rifles and 140 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition from the scene.

“Operatives CP special assignment team again raided two forests where kidnappers hibernate. One in Anambra State and another one in Issele-Asagba, Delta State,” he said.

“One Bello Abubakar and four of his gang of suspected kidnappers died in the gun duel, and three AK-47 rifles and one hundred and forty rounds of 7.62mm ammunition were recovered.”

Earlier this month, the Delta police command arrested two suspects in connection with the killing of Chigozie Udalor, a site engineer, in Akwukwu-Igbo, Oshimili North LGA.

Edafe said the 38-year-old victim was killed on December 10, 2024, by four workers employed by the deceased from Benue state
