The Rivers police command says hoodlums assaulted and forced Goodluck Iheamnacho, sole administrator of Ahoada LGA, to sign a resignation letter.

On Friday, a letter indicating that Iheamnacho has resigned his position as the sole administrator of Ahoada east LGA appeared online.

The resignation letter, dated June 20, was addressed to Ibok-Ete Ibas, the Rivers sole administrator.

Hours after the resignation letter went viral, a video showing a man resembling Iheamnacho being beaten by some men began trending online.

In an interview with Nigeria Info 92.3 FM Port Harcourt, Iheamnacho asked members of the public to disregard the letter, saying that the letter was brought to his office by hoodlums who attacked him.

Iheamnacho said he is still the Ahoada east LGA administrator.

In another interview with Nigeria Info 92.3 FM, Hector Ekeakita, chief security officer (CSO) of Ahoada east LGA, insisted that Iheamnacho was not attacked by thugs and that he had resigned his position.
