Police inspector shoots sergeant dead during altercation in Kano

Ya’u Yakubu, a police inspector attached to the Kano command, has shot dead Basharu Alhassan, a sergeant, during an altercation.

The incident occurred on Tuesday night in Warawa LGA of Kano state when a fight broke out between Yakubu and Alhassan.

TheCable understands that during the fight, Yakubu brought out his gun and shot at Alhassan.

The deceased was said to have been rushed to the Wudil General Hospital by his colleagues.

Upon arrival at the hospital, Alhassan was said to have been declared dead by the doctors.

Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, spokesman of the Kano state police command, confirmed the incident to TheCable.

Kiyawa, a deputy superintendent of police (DSP), said Yakubu was enraged after the late Alhassan laughed at him because he was transferred out of Warawa LGA.

He said the commissioner of police, Sama’ila Shuaibu Dikko, had ordered the transfer of the case to the headquarters for further investigation.
