Police invite el-Rufai, six Kaduna ADC leaders over alleged criminal conspiracy

The police command in Kaduna has invited Nasir el-Rufai, former governor of the state, for questioning over allegations of “criminal conspiracy, inciting disturbance of public peace, mischief and causing grievous hurt”.

The police also invited six others members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), including Bashir Sa’idu, Jafaru Sani, Ubaidullah Mohammed, Nasiru Maikano, Aminu Abita and Ahmed Rufa’i Hussaini.

In the letter dated September 4, and addressed to Kaduna ADC chairman, the police said el-Rufai and the six other ADC members are currently being investigated.

The police asked the Kaduna ADC chairman to come to the state criminal investigation department office with the aforementioned ADC members.

“This department is currently investigating the above mentioned case involving the following members of your party,” the letter reads.

“You are requested to come along with them to SCID to clarify allegations reported against them by the complainants on 8th September, 2025.”

Earlier, the police sealed off the Kaduna ADC secretariat.

Last Saturday, suspected thugs dosrupted the inauguration of an ADC transition committee in Kaduna, attacking participants and damaging property.

The hoodlums, armed with cutlasses, clubs, and stones, were said to have injured several people and destroyed vehicles.

Mansir Hassan, spokesperson of Kaduna police command, said the event was organised without “prior notification” to security agencies despite “repeated warnings”.

The ADC accused that the Kaduna police of attempting to criminalise opposition politics.
