Police in Kano arraign 57 for ‘raping’ minors
The Kano state command of the Nigeria police force has arraigned 57 suspected rapists.
According to Muhammad Katsina, the state police commissioner, the suspects have defiled over 57 minors in the last three weeks.
Katsina said most of the victims were between the ages of two and seven, saying some of them had been infected with HIV/Aids, while others were still receiving treatment at the hospital.
“One of the suspects was found to have defiled 10 boys in an area in Kano metropolis while some were found to have infected their victims with HIV/AIDS,” he told reporters on Tuesday.
He advised parents to pay more attention to the upbringing of their children.
Katsina said the police would ensure that the suspects were prosecuted appropriately in order to serve as a deterrent to others.
