2 ‘armed robbers’ killed in gunfire with police

Men of the Osun Police Command on Friday killed two suspected armed robbers in the Ikirun area of the state, while robbing a new generation bank in the town.

Folashade Odoro, police public relation officer of the command, who confirmed the incident, said two of the armed robbers were killed during cross fire.

She said two others were captured alive, adding that one of captured robbers was seriously wounded.

Odoro explained that the robbers attacked the bank with dynamite and also placed explosives in strategic locations to aid the robbery operation.

She said men of police anti-bomb squad were able to identify the explosives and successfully diffused them, adding that one of the robbers who sustained bullet injury was among the two arrested, while the rest escaped through the residential areas.

Odoro urged residents to report any strange individual in their area to the police.

She said the police recovered pistols and the money stolen from the bank during the robbery operation.
