The Police command in Zamfara says it has killed a notorious bandit and rescued eleven victims in captivity.

Muhammad Shehu, spokesperson of the command, confirmed the development in a statement in Gusau on Thursday.

Shehu said a large number of bandits blocked the Gusau to Sokoto road along Dogon Karfe, yesterday at about 1pm, causing commuters to run for their lives.

“The Police tactical operatives on patrol along the road quickly mobilise to the location.

“On arrival at the scene, the police were engaged in a gun duel by bandits who already abducted innocent commuters and were about to take them to the forest.

“The operatives gallantly repelled them, deterring the hoodlums from further onslaught on the commuters.”

According to him, one of the bandits was neutralised and eleven victims kidnapped by the bandit were rescued by the police operatives.
