Police kill two ‘kidnappers’ in Abuja

The police have reportedly killed two suspected kidnappers said to be terrorising communities in Abaji area council of the federal capital territory (FCT).

The area council is on the boundary between the FCT and Kogi state. There have been reports of abduction along Abuja-Lokoja expressway.

The kidnappers were said to have been killed in the early hours of Sunday after an exchange of gunfire with police officers.

They had raided a village in Abaji and were about making their way out of the area when they got intercepted by the police.

Other suspects are said to be on the run and the police have launched an operation to apprehend them.

Also, five suspected cultists have been arrested in Gwagwa-Jiwa axis of the nation’s capital.

The suspects are said to be members of Aro Baga confraternity known in the area for harassing residents.

One locally-made revolver pistol and two unexpended cartridges as well as ammunition are said to have been recovered from the suspects.

Mariam Yusuf, FCT police spokesperson, confirmed the development in a text message.

“Yes please,” the spokesperson said in response to TheCable’s enquiry.

The FCT has been recording high cases of abductions recently.
