Police launch manhunt as gunmen abduct Plateau lawmaker

The Plateau police command says gunmen have abducted Laven Jacob, the lawmaker representing Pankshin south constituency in the state house of assembly.

According to Vanguard newspaper, Alfred Alabo, police spokesperson in Plateau, said Jacob was kidnapped on Monday night while driving into his residence in Angwan Kaji, Dong community, Jos north LGA.

Alano said the attackers intercepted the lawmaker around 8pm at the entrance of his home and whisked him to an unknown destination.

“On receipt of the report, the divisional police officer in charge of Rantya division and the officer in charge, anti-kidnapping unit, Jos, mobilised to the scene and are currently combing the bushes to rescue the victim,” Alabo said.

He added that Emmanuel Adesina, commissioner of police in the state, has directed tactical teams, divisional officers, and patrol units across Jos metropolis to join the operation.

Meanwhile, the kidnappers are yet to make contact with the family as of the time of filing this report.
