The police have arrested Benjamin Bob-manuel, an allegedly notorious kidnapper who led the gang that abducted Osio Agama, sister of Diezani Alison-Madueke, Nigeria’s petroleum minister.

Men of the Rivers state police command said they trailed Bob-manuel for several days before arresting him on Sunday at Nembe Waterfront in Port Harcourt.

Confirming the arrest of Bob-manuel, Ahmad Muhammad, public relations officer of the Rivers state police command, said that Whokows Ekine, the kidnapper’s accomplice, was apprehended by security operatives on Monday.

In a statement on Monday, Muhammad disclosed that a locally-made pistol and a Toyota Highlander jeep were recovered from the hideout of the kidnappers.

He warned criminals to desist from their activities within the state or risk arrest and prosecution.

Agama was abducted in Port Harcourt on October 21 as she made to enter her car.

She has since regained her freedom.
