A police officer has been killed and several persons injured after suspected bandits ambushed a joint security team along the Kuzuntu axis of Anchau in Kubau LGA of Kaduna state.
According to Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication, the attack occurred around 2 pm on Wednesday when a combined team of Nigerian Army personnel, police officers, Kaduna Vigilance Service (KADVS) operatives and local vigilantes were returning from an assignment at the government grazing reserve in Kuzuntu.
Makama said team had been deployed on the request of the chairman of Kubau LGA to escort staff of an agro-industry and local officials to take measurements of the grazing area. The task was completed without incident.
However, on their way back, the security operatives were ambushed by armed men suspected to be bandits.

Sunday Ishaya, a police constable, was fatally shot during the attack, while several soldiers sustained injuries.
The publication said the victims were evacuated to a nearby hospital, where PC Ishaya was confirmed dead.
The injured officers are currently receiving treatment and are responding well, while the remains of the deceased officer have been deposited at the general hospital in Ikara.
