The Akwa Ibom police command says it has launched a probe into the death Udeme Uko inside a church in Ikot Oku Usung village of Ukanafun LGA.

A statement on Wednesday by Timfon John, spokesperson of the command, said the 45-year-old man was reportedly asleep in the church with his wife and children when a gunshot rang out around 12:10 am on Tuesday.

John said Uko was later found in his pool of blood with a gunshot wound to the head, raising suspicion of either suicide or a targeted attack.

“A team of officers was immediately dispatched to the scene, where a locally made pistol was recovered,” the statement reads.
