Assailants kill 2 guards at Rivers high court

Two security guards were killed at the premises of the Rivers state high court on Monday night.

Ahmad Muhammad, police public relations officer in the state, confirmed this, saying the attackers hit the victims with “hard objects”.

“When we got the information, our men stormed the scene and discovered that the assailants had fled,” he said.

“But from our initial analysis, it appeared the security men were sleeping when they were attacked.

“From all indications, the assailants used hard objects to hit them on the head.”

Muhammad said detectives from the command were trying to fish out the killers.

Five policemen attached to 30 mobile police force of Yenagoa, Bayelsa state, were killed in an ambush at Okobie, Ahoada West local government area of Rivers in the early hours of Monday.

The high rate of insecurity in the state has been a source of concern to the government.
