The Kogi police command says its operatives have rescued 16 kidnap victims in the state.

Williams Ovye-Aya, the command’s spokesperson, said eleven of the victims were passengers on a Peace Mass Transit bus, while the other five were abducted on Sunday along Ette Enugu Ezike road and taken to the bush.

Ovye-Aya described the rescue operation as a very “swift and pragmatic” one, adding that no arrests have been made, but that efforts were underway to ensure the suspects are apprehended and brought to justice.

“We are leaving no stone unturned to ensure that kidnappers are arrested and prosecuted to serve as deterrent to others,” NAN quoted Ovye-Aya as saying.

“As security operatives, we are out to arrest the menace of kidnapping and other criminal activities in Kogi and the country as a whole.

“Already, our commissioner of police in Kogi command, Bethrand Onuoha, is happy with the rescue operation and has commended the joint security team.”

The command’s spokesperson said Onuoha reaffirmed his determination to sustaining the ongoing onslaught against criminals in the state.
