The Oyo police command has rescued one Oluwaseun Oluokun, a palmwine tapper, who was abducted by gunmen along the Ibadan-Ijebu Ode road in the state.

The police also rescued one Babatunde Dauda, a staff member of Polaris Bank, who was also abducted.

Oluokun and Dauda are said to be among the five people who were kidnapped on Monday by gunmen along the Ibadan-Ijebu Ode axis of the state.

The kidnappers, said to have been armed with rifles, shot sporadically into the air around Ibuso Gbooro, by a quarry site, before whisking away the victims.

The gunmen were said to have mounted a blockade on the road, after which they brought two moving vehicles to a halt and took away two bankers from one of the cars — the victims were reportedly on their way to their offices in Ijebu Ode.

The driver was, however, spared.

The other occupants of the second car, who were said to be on their way to Ogbere in Ogun state, were abducted alongside the palmwine tapper, who was on his way to the farm.
