The Anambra state police command says it has rescued a 28-year-old man who attempted suicide in Awada, Idemili north LGA.
Tochukwu Ikenga, the state’s police spokesperson, said the incident happened on Tuesday evening behind Grace of God Mission in Awada.
Ikenga said the man identified as Okwudili Onyiba climbed a power transmission pole in an attempt to take his own life.
He said officers from the Awada division swiftly intervened after receiving a distress call, cordoning off the area to avert danger and dispersing the crowd that had gathered.
