The Niger state police command says 35 kidnapped victims rescued by its operatives have been reunited with their families.
In a statement on Tuesday, Wasiu Abiodun, police spokesperson in Niger state, said the victims—16 women and 19 children—were abducted from different parts of the state, including Kagara, Tegina, and Agwara.
Abiodun noted that Adamu Elleman, the state commissioner of police, said the victims were kept in protective custody for a period to undergo counselling and deradicalisation before being handed over to the chairman of Rafi LGA and their families.
Elleman, who was represented by Ibrahim Adamu, deputy commissioner of police (investigations), at the event, urged residents to continue supporting the security agencies with credible information that could help curb criminal activities across the state.
