The Abia state police command have seized a large number of military uniforms stashed in a warehouse in Aba, Abia state.

Anthony Ogbizi, the state commissioner of police, disclosed this while speaking with reporters on Tuesday at the Umuahia central police station.

He said the military uniforms were imported from China by one Uche Iruoha, who shipped them in a container to Apapa port, Lagos, after which it was moved to Aba.

The police commissioner said Iruoha was still in China.

Ogbizi said one Michael Onuoha, who owns the warehouse, was also arrested on August 16 for alleged conspiracy, aiding and abetting the unlawful procurement, importation and possession of the uniforms, which were mainly camouflage.

Abubakar Ibrahim, commander of 14 brigade of the Nigerian army, said the army was worried by the development.

Ibrahim lamented the rate at which unauthorised persons wear military uniforms and camouflage to commit crimes, adding that the army is working with the police and other security agencies to curb the act and get perpetrators arrested and tried.
