A police officer was killed on Friday when Boko Haram insurgents attacked Tunkushe village in Konduga local government area (LGA) of Borno state.

The insurgents came into the village on motorcycles, and stormed the police checkpoint located about 20 kilometres away from Maiduguri, the state capital.

A military source told TheCable that troops from the army’s 212 battalion were immediately deployed to repel the attack.

“Nobody was informed about what was going on, even when the attack happened. It was later that the troops of 212 battalion of the Nigerian army were reinforced to the scene,” he said.
