A police inspector simply identified as Lasisi was shot dead at a checkpoint along Isua-Ise Akoko road of Ondo state on Monday.

The gunmen, who reportedly emerged from a bush nearby, opened fire on the deceased together with his colleagues attached to Isua Akoko divisional police station.

“The policemen have been on that road for the past one year. Today, some hoodlums just came from nowhere and opened fire on them at the checkpoint. While Mr. Lasisi was killed other policemen at the checkpoint ran for their lives,” a source said.

“After he was killed, the hoodlums went away with his gun. As we talk, his body has been deposited at the morgue of  the Ipe Akoko General Hospital while policemen had moved into the bush trailing the hoodlums.”
