Ange Postecoglou
Nottingham Forest have appointed Ange Postecoglou as the club’s new head coach — a few hours after sacking Nuno Espirito Santo.
Postecoglou was announced as Forest’s head coach in a statement released on the club website on Tuesday.
Nuno had endured a fractious relationship with Evangelos Marinakis, the club owner, since performance dipped towards the end of last season.
The club, home to Super Eagles of Nigeria’s Ola Aina and Taiwo Awoniyi, had returned to Europe for the first time in 29 years under Nuno’s 21-month tenure.

Announcing his sacking, the club thanked “Nuno for his contribution during a very successful era at the City Ground, in particular his role in the 2024/25 season, which will forever be remembered fondly in the history of the club”.
Forest replaced Nuno with Postecoglou, the 60-year-old Australian coach who was sacked by Tottenham at the end of last season — despite winning the Europa League.
The club, however, did not disclose contract details of Postecoglu, who also led Tottenham to a dismal 17th-place finish in the league last season.

Marinakis praised Postecoglou’s “credentials, experience, and his desire to further build Nottingham Forest’s status”.
“We are bringing a coach to the Club who has a proven and consistent record of winning trophies,” he said.
”His experience of coaching teams at the highest level, along with his desire to build something special with us at Forest, makes him a fantastic person to help us on our journey and achieve consistently all our ambitions.
“After gaining promotion to the Premier League, then building consistently season after season to secure European football, we now must take the right step to compete with the very best and challenge for trophies.

”Ange has the credentials and the track record to do this, and we are excited he is joining us on our ambitious journey.”
Postecoglou’s first match as Nottingham Forest boss will be a trip to Arsenal on Saturday.
