‘Practise what you preach’ — reactions as Nigerian embassy in Washington asks visitors to ‘check their attitude’

A sign at the Nigerian embassy in Washington, DC, United States, imploring visitors to “check their attitude” before entering the building, has elicited a potpourri of reactions on social media. 

“Take a slow deep breath… ensure your attitude is in check before entering,” the sign reads.

The photo was shared on X by Justin UG, a Nigerian actor and content creator, whose location was set at Philadelphia.

UG said the photo was taken at the embassy in Washington.

While some found the message amusing, others quipped that it is embassy staff who should be using some of their own advice.

“Whereas they do not practise what they preach,” wrote X user @DeraDaMenace.

Another X user identified as @blueytaste quipped: “Mind you, the only people with attitude there are the employees”.

On Google Maps, the Nigerian embassy in DC holds a 2.6-star rating out of 5, with reviews reflecting mixed opinions about quality of services.

UG’s post has since garnered over 100,000 views since it was shared Thursday evening, with thousands more in engagement.
