President Muhammadu Buhari is not dead, the presidency has said.

Fake reports had on Saturday suggested that the president was flown to a German hospital where he died.

In reaction, presidential spokespersons, Garba Shehu and Femi Adesina, shut down the reports through their social media handles.

Adesina, the special adviser on media and publicity to the President, called on those spreading the rumours to repent.

“Best wishes to all who wish PMB well. As for those who carry evil rumours, may they receive grace to repent,” he wrote on Twitter.

In the same vein, Garba Shehu, the senior special assistant on media and publicity to the President, said Buhari is “alive and well”.

Shehu wrote on Facebook: “He is alive and well! President Buhari is not magical. He cannot be holidaying in the UK and be in Germany, dead or alive at the same time.

“He is unlike a past President who was at Ota, with Chief Obasanjo and attending the Trump inauguration in D.C, being in two places at the same time.”

President Buhari on Thursday departed Nigeria for the United Kingdom on a short vacation and routine medical check-ups.
