Luka Ayedoo, spokesman of the Plateau command of the Nigerian Prisons Service (NPS) has denied telling any journalist that former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar visited Jonah Jang, senator representing plateau north, in prison.

Jang has been in Jos Prison since Wednesday when a high court in Plateau remanded him after he was arraigned on a seven-count charge by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

He was accused of misappropriating N6.3 billion while serving as the governor of Plateau.

In a statement on Monday, Ayedoo described as misleading reports that Atiku visited the prison to see Jang.

“The service’s attention has been drawn to a section of media report confirming the visit of His Excellency Atiku Abubakar to the former governor of Plateau State, Jonah David Jang in Jos prison,” the statement read.

“That report is fictitious and brewed from fallacies. The command has not in any away confirmed such visit to any media house. Hence, such section of the report should be shed, as it is aimed at misleading the public.”

NAN had reported that Ayedoo confirmed Abubakar’s purported visit to Jang.
