Property worth millions of naira destroyed as fire razes Karmo market in Abuja
There was a fire outbreak at Karmo market located in a suburb of the federal capital territory (FCT).
The fire reportedly started in the wee hours of Thursday and was on till about 2:00am.
The FCT fire service officials reportedly responded in good time and the fire was put out under two hours.
The reason for the outbreak is still unknown.
Many traders who quickly got to the scene after learning about the fire watched as it destroyed shops in the market.
Thursday’s incident is said to have started in a shop that sold drinks before engulfing other stalls.
“It is someone setting this fire,” a trader could be heard saying in a video clip seen by TheCable.
This is the third fire incident in the market in four years, it was learnt. The last fire incident occurred in October last year.
