The National Parents Teachers Association (NPTA) has appealed to the gunmen who kidnapped students from Greenfield University, Kaduna, to spare the lives of their victims.

Gunmen had invaded Greenfield University in April and kidnapped some students of the institution.

Five of the kidnapped students have been killed.

TheCable had earlier reported that the abductors had threatened to kill the remaining victims if a ransom of N100 million wasn’t paid by Tuesday.

Haruna Danjuma, NPTA president, while speaking with journalists on Tuesday in Kaduna, urged the abductors to reconsider their stand.

“We were shocked with that statement on the radio (VOA) that all the remaining students of Greenfield University would be killed if N100 million and 10 motorcycles were not given to them today (Tuesday),” Danjuma said.

“We are simply begging them not to kill any other student in view of the fact that they are innocent.

“The deadline is really worrisome and we as parents, are concerned and worried over the lives of our students and teachers of the university.”

He also appealed to the government to do more to address insecurity.

“Since the kidnap of Chibok girls, to Dapchi, Zamfara, Niger, and Kaduna, many teachers and students are in a panic mood, hence the need for the government to quickly bring an end to the kidnapping of students and teachers,” he said.
