The Niger government has declared a five-day holiday for workers in the state.

Binta Mamman, commissioner for information in the state, in a statement on Friday, said the five-day holiday is to enable civil servants participate in monitoring and distribution of food items for Ramadan, across all the LGAs of the state.

“Monday to Friday next week have been declared public holidays,” she said.

“This is to enable civil servants and political office holders to participate in the distribution and monitoring of the palliatives and Ramadan feeding in their various local government areas.”

Salisu said during Ramadan, from Monday to Thursday, workers are expected to resume from 9 am and close by 2 am, while on Friday, closing time is 1 pm.
