Ramon Azeez, Super Eagles of Nigeria player, scored one and was impressive for Granada on Saturday night in the minnows’ 2-0 win over La Liga defending champions, Barcelona.

Granada, who returned to the Spanish top league this season following promotion from the Segunda division, harried and bullied a surprisingly flat Barcelona side to submission.

The 26-year-old Azeez set the tone for the night in the second minute when he headed in a deflected cross from close range to ensure Granada take a surprise lead from an opportunity afforded by a slip from Barcelona’s recently signed left back, Junior Firpo.

The goal was the Abuja-born forward’s second of the season after five games.

Azeez would make his presence felt at both ends of the field, defending bravely from a Luis Suarez free kick that ended with the Uruguayan hacking down the former Almeria forward, earning a yellow card for his trouble.

The Andalusians protected their lead going into the break, blocking another Suarez shot on the line to deny Barca from their only major chance of the half.

The introduction of talisman, Lionel Messi and new kid sensation, Ansu Fathi did not cow the home side into submission, and they benefited from a VAR penalty call after the hour for a Vidal handball in the box.

Substitute, Alvaro vadillo dispatched the spot kick to make it 2-0 on 66 minutes, ensuring a win that takes Granada joint-top of the league with 10 points.

Barca, however, have now lost twice in five games and have not won an away game since April. The Catalans slip to seventh in the league as they endure their worst start to a season for 25 years, winning just two of five games.
