Rasheed Gbadamosi, ex-minister, dies at 72

Rasheed Gbadamosi, a former minister of national planning, has died at the age of 72.

The ex-minister’s death was confirmed on social media by Steve Ayorinde, Lagos state commissioner for information.

“The Lagos State Government mourns the passing of a leading industrialist, art patron, former minister and co-chairman of the Lagos@50, Chief Rasheed Gbadamosi,” Ayorinde said.

He added that: “Chief Gbadamosi will be remembered for being a true Lagosian, a nationalist and an art aficionado”.

Gbadamosi, who reportedly suffered multiple strokes last year, was said to have died Wednesday.

According to Ayorinde, the remains of the former chairman, Petroleum Products Prices Regulatory Agency (PPPRA) would be interred Thursday afternoon.

Before his death, Gbadamosi had co-chaired the Lagos at 50 celebrations alongside Wole Soyinka, a Nobel laureate.
