The League of Nigerian Columnists (LNC) will be unveiled in Lagos on Thursday.

Akogun Adeniyi, LNC president, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday.

He said coming together of Nigeria’s columnists will “help deepen and cross-fertilise the market and reach of ideas as never before.”

He listed the inaugural members of the league to include prominent writers such as Yakubu Mohammed, Ray Ekpu, Reuben Abati, Henry Boyo, Ikechukwu Ameaechi, Jimanze Ego-Alowes, Dare Babrinsa, Martins Oloja among others.

Among the guests expected at the occasion are Sam Pemu of Vanguard Newspapers; Cecilia Ibru, publisher of The Guardian Newspapers; Nduka Obaigbena, publisher of THISDAY Newspapers and John Momoh, chief executive officer of the Channels Television Group.

“Those who wield the pen with great skills are brothers and bonded by ideas. An association as this is thus indicated, is thus a necessity, for both the good of the columnists and above all their society,” Adeniyi said in a statement.
