Xabi Alonso
Real Madrid have confirmed the appointment of Xabi Alonso as the club’s new manager.
The La Liga giant announced the arrival of the Spaniard in a post on Instagram on Sunday.
Alonso will take over at the Santiago Bernabeu on June 1, and his contract will run till 2028.
The manager will be presented to the fans and media on Monday.

“Xabi Alonso is one of the greatest legends of Real Madrid and world football. He defended our shirt in 236 official games between 2009 and 2014. During that time he won 6 titles: the tenth European Cup in Lisbon, 1 European Super Cup, 1 League, 2 Copa del Rey and 1 Spanish Super Cup,” the post reads.
“Xabi Alonso is also a legend of the Spanish national team, with which he won 1 World Cup (2010) and 2 Euro Cups (2008 and 2012), in 113 matches as an international.
“Xabi Alonso started his career as a coach at the Real Madrid quarry, leading during the 2018-2019 season the Infantil A, with which he was proclaimed champion of the League and the Champions Tournament.”

Alonso replaces Carlo Ancelotti, who was recently appointed head coach of the Brazilian national team. The Italian received an emotional farewell after Real Madrid’s final league game.
Alonso began his managerial career at Bayer Leverkusen, where he made history in 2024 after winning the German League without losing a game.
His first objective with Real Madrid will be the Club World Cup in the US in July.
