Craneburg Construction Limited, the contractor handling the reconstruction of the Lagos–Abeokuta expressway, has assured that the project will be completed within record time.
Pierre Andary, the project manager of Craneburg, spoke during an inspection tour of ongoing reconstruction projects in Itori, Ewekoro local government area, Ogun state, led by Ade Akinsanya, the commissioner for works and infrastructure.
The company gave the assurance as the Ogun state government reiterated its commitment to delivering durable road infrastructure across the state.
Andary said asphalt laying had already begun on several sections of the road, with overall completion now exceeding 50 percent.

He explained that despite weather-related challenges, the company had continued to work steadily to ensure the project’s timely delivery.
Also, Akinsanya highlighted that the Dapo Abiodun-led administration had transformed roads that were previously impassable since assuming office in 2019.
He encouraged residents and motorists to remain patient, noting that delivering quality and durable infrastructure requires time and technical precision.

“Before this administration came on board, the road was totally impassable. The Sango-Ota area was like a swimming pool. We made tremendous efforts to fix that, but road reconstruction is not a one-day operation — it takes time,” Akinsanya said.
He further explained that the concrete pavement method being used along the Ewekoro axis was chosen to strengthen the road and minimise long-term maintenance costs, particularly in areas with a high water table.
The commissioner also addressed a viral video showing poor road conditions, clarifying that it did not represent the current state of the project.
He added that the government had already taken steps to ease traffic congestion along the corridor.

“Work is ongoing and will continue until completion,” he added.
The engineer urged motorists to drive cautiously, especially during the rainy season.
Other roads inspected during the tour include the 8.17km Magboro–Makogi Road, Akute–Alagbole Road, 9.2km Oke-Aro–Agbado Road, and Papalanto Road, spanning Abeokuta North, Ado-Odo/Ota, Ifo, and Ewekoro Local Government Areas.
Jason Zhang, project manager of CCECC Nigeria Limited, which is handling the Magboro–Makogi Road, confirmed steady progress and praised both motorists and the state government for their cooperation.
