The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has announced a temporary suspension of its recruitment portal.
The portal is dedicated to recruitment into paramilitary agencies — Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Nigeria Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigeria Fire Service (NFS), and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS).
The suspension comes just two days after the portal was opened for recruitment applications into the four parastatals.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by AM Jubril, secretary to the board, the CDCFIB said the suspension is part of an effort to optimise the efficiency of its system.

He added that the portal will be available again from Monday, July 21.
“This development will ensure that the portal accommodates the high volume of applications while guaranteeing a smooth, transparent, and fair recruitment process,” the statement reads.
“We appreciate the enthusiasm and interest of young Nigerians to serve their country through these vital agencies and are committed to ensuring a fair and transparent recruitment process.”

This is the third service announcement made by the board since the portal became open for applications on July 14.
It had initially announced, after users complained about inability to access the site, that “a new few updates is set to be added for your easy navigation, optimal performance and complete field entries”.
Some Nigerians have taken to social media to express their experience while trying to put in an application.
“After inputting my NIN and phone numbers, this Error 405 keeps occurring and keeps taking me back to the home page, and I have to start over since 3:30 am… what could be the problem?” an X user asked.

Some interested applicants also complained that they have not been able to access the portal since the application was made open.
