Reekado Banks, popular musician and winner of the controversial Next Rated award of the Headies 2015, has been verified on Instagram ahead of artistes such as Olamide, Lil Kesh, Wizkid and a host of others.

Banks therefore becomes only the 8th Nigerian to be verified on Instagram.

With 469,000 followers on Instagram, Reekado Banks joins fellow Mavin acts Don Jazzy, Tiwa Savage and Dr Sid who have verified accounts on Instagram.

The University of Lagos graduate began his musical career in 2008 with ‘Spicy’ as his stage name, before becoming a part of the Mavin crew in 2014.

Reekado, as he is popularly called by his fans, has 10 single tracks to his credit, five of them collaborations with his Mavin colleagues.

In a #MySuperStarStory interview by Star Nigeria, the musician said he once worked as a bricklayer in a bid to earn money to pursue his musical career.

Born Solomon Ayoleyi Hanniel, the 22-year old Ondo indigene was recently nominated for the Kora All Africa Music Awards under the category of Male Most Promising Act.

Reekado Banks has been nominated for two awards since the beginning of his musical career and has won both.

Both awards were nominations from the Headies 2015 for Next Rated act and Video of the Year for his hit single, Katapot.
