Remo Stars cruise to victory over Zilimadjou in CAF Champions League
Remo Stars scored twice in each half for a dominant 4-0 victory over US Zilimadjou in their CAF Champions League first round first-leg clash at the MKO Abiola stadium, Abeokuta, on Sunday.
The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions welcomed the Comoros champions with a flurry of goals from Leonard Ngenge, Ebuka Anthony, Adama Goita, and Samson Olasupo in their makeshift home to take firm control of the two-legged tie.
Ngenge put the hosts ahead on 12 minutes with a stabbed effort from a loose ball in the six-yard box following a corner kick.
The host had to wait until first half added time to double their advantage with a well-worked goal. Ibrahim Abubakar’s short free-kick from just outside the area found Chilekwu whose low cross was finished by Anthony for 2-0 lead at halftime.

A relentless Remo side made it three in the 69th minute through Goita, the Malian import, who planted a well-placed header into the roof of the net from Abubakar’s cross, before substitute Olasupo tucked away a pass into the far bottom corner to seal the 4-0 on 80 minutes.
The second leg will be played at same venue on Friday, September 26.
Kwara United and Abia Warriors however had contrasting fortunes in the CAF Confederations Cup, where the former lost a seven-goal thriller in Ghana, falling 4-3 to Asante Kotoko in the first leg of their first-round tie.
