Remo Stars’ player, Ochowechi, wins goal of the week award
Salefu Ochowechi’s 19th-minute free kick against Gombe United is the most popular goal of the week, according to fans of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
The Remo Stars player was voted winner of the Match Day 22 VAT Wonder Goal award.
Ochowechi was shortlisted alongside Mohammed Mohammed of ABS and Festua Umanah of Wikki Tourists.
The trio scored fantastic goals but Ochowechi’s free kick from over 30 yards soared in the poll.
Ochowechi picked up 80.6% (257 of the total 320 votes) while Mohammed had 2.2% (7 votes) and Umanah secured 17.2% (5 votes).
But 45% of the Twitter voters preferred Mohammed’s goal for ABS against Niger Tornadoes, earning him 89 of the total 198 votes while Ochowechi had 63 votes and Umanah received 45 votes.
After the summation, Ochowechi secured a total of 320 votes, Umanah polled 100 votes while Mohammed’s tally was 96.
Ochowechi will receive a prize money of N150, 000, half of which is to be donated to a charity of his choice in Ogun state.
Anthony Okpotu of Lobi Stars, FC Ifeanyi Ubah’s Ivorian import, Seka Paschal and El-Kanemi Warriors’ Otakho Aghaghowa have been shortlisted for next week’s award.
Past winners include Ayo Saka of Rivers United and Akwa United’s Ubong Friday.
