Loic Remy scored Chelsea’s winner for the second straight game to send them seven points clear at the top of the Barclays Premier League after a 2-1 win over Stoke City.

Charlie Adam struck from inside his own half to cancel out a penalty from Eden Hazard, who provided the assist for Remy’s deciding goal after a mistake from Asmir Begovic.

At the Emirates, Arsenal trounced Liverpool 4-1 with Hector Bellerin, Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez all on target.

Olivier Giroud sealed victory in the final minute after a Jordan Henderson’s penalty had briefly raised Liverpool’s hopes, only for Emre Can to get the marching order late on.

Ander Herrera scored at the end of each half and Wayne Rooney added a spectacular strike in between as Manchester United moved above champions Manchester City into third place with a 3-1 at Old Trafford against Aston Villa.

Andy King’s late goal earned bottom club Leicester City a precious 2-1 home win over West Ham United while 18th-placed Queens Park Rangers beat 10-man West Bromwich Albion 4-1 for a rare away victory.

Hull City’s relegation worries deepened, however, after a 3-1 loss at Swansea City.

Leicester are still four points behind 17th-placed Sunderland who play Newcastle United on Sunday, but QPR are only a point below the relegation zone.

Everton beat Southampton 1-0 win as the Saints faint hope of a top-four spot now look bleak.
