The 2024 Nigeria Demographic and Health Survey (NDHS) shows that only one in 10 Nigerian households owns a car or truck.

The survey was conducted by the National Population Commission (NPC), Gates Foundation, United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), and the Global Fund.

According to the report, only 28 percent of households own a motorcycle or scooter.

The survey said ownership of cars and trucks is 15 percent in urban areas and just 5 percent in rural areas.
