Nyesom Wike, Gboyega Oyetola and Nasir el-Rufai, immediate past governors of Rivers, Osun and Kaduna states respectively, have been reportedly included in the ministerial list of President Bola Tinubu.

The Nation reports that the list was sent to Godswill Akpabio, the senate president, this morning.

Meanwhile, TheCable also understands that David Umahi, former governor of Ebonyi; Atiku Bagudu, former governor of Kebbi; Mohammed Badaru; former governor of Jigawa; and David Edevbie, governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 elections, are included in the list sent to the senate.

Lateef Fagbemi’s nomination, TheCable learned, is in jeopardy because of his closeness to Rotimi Amaechi, immediate past minister of transportation.

TheCable had reported that the president had to send the list to the senate before Friday this week, in line with section 42(a) of the constitution which states that “the nomination of any person to the office of a Minister for confirmation by the Senate shall be done within sixty days after the date the President has taken the oath of office”.

Tinubu was sworn in on May 29.

The senate will commence its recess today and will reconvene in September.
