‎The federal house of representatives has commended the military for its effort in ridding parts of the northeast of Boko Haram.

Lately, the Nigerian military had stepped up attacks on the insurgents, expelling‎ them from Baga, capturing some of them and seizing their weapons.

In a motion moved by Monguno Mohammed, who represents Monguno in Borno state, the house praised the military and President Goodluck Jonathan for their efforts in the fight against Boko Haram.

Abubakar Momoh, who represents Isako West in Edo‎ said: ” We commend the military and the commander-in-chief for making the victory against Boko Haram possible.”

Meanwhile, the house was unable‎ to deliberate on the motion of Femi Gbajabiamila seeking to stop the military from deploying soldiers to polling units during elections.

The committee on rules and business,‎ which was supposed to advise the speaker on the matter last week, asked for more time to look into the motion.

Emeka Ihedioha, deputy speaker and presiding officer, subsequently granted the committee more time.
